Spinka Rebbe zts"l

The Spinka Rebbe of Jerusalem zatzal, Rav Kahane, a remarkable Tzaddik and brilliant Torah scholar, has passed away at the age of 79. This past Saturday night he was hospitalized and brought to Shaarei Tzedek hospital where he passed away on Tuesday morning.

Rav Kahane headed a scholarly foundation that printed and annotated halachic works of Rishonim and Achronim. The Spinka Rebbe was the chief editor.

Rav Kahana, originally from Hungary, attended Yeshivas Tomchei Tmimim and afterward Yeshivas Chochmei Lublin. He arrived in Eretz Yisroel at the tender age of ten.

His health has been declining steadily in the past few years.
